Beardsley's Cider Mill offers untreated cider for making hard (alcoholic) cider. Either drop off your container, barrel, or carboy, or if you prefer, we can provide new, and used barrels as well. The best apples for making hard cider usually ripen in late October thru early November such as Winesap, Baldwin, Northern Spy, Golden Russet, and Yellow Delicious. We also have several old English cider apple varieties planted for hard cider such as Kingston Black, Brown Snout, Tremlett's Bitter, and Ellis Bitter for English style cider.
We offer a "beginner's kit" which includes an oak barrel filled with cider, extra cider for "topping off" and a water seal for $250.00. Please call ahead to assure availability.
Ask for Dave or Dan Beardsley for advice and/or various styles and methods of making your hard cider. We can direct you to a local supply store, Maltose Express, for any cider making supplies you may need.
